Description

VNE057 – 7 mL Quartz Long Path Length Fluorescence Cuvette (20 mm Lightpath, 4 Windows, PTFE Lid, Fused Fabrication)

The VNE057 is a precision quartz cuvette designed for fluorescence and absorbance spectroscopy that requires enhanced sensitivity with moderate sample volume. With a 20 mm optical path length and 4 optically clear windows, this cuvette is ideal for right-angle fluorescence detection, front-face fluorescence, and high-sensitivity absorbance measurements.

Manufactured using fused fabrication, this cuvette offers excellent optical clarity and broad UV/VIS transmission (190 – 2500 nm) at an economical cost. Compared to molded cuvettes, fused fabrication provides good performance but has slightly lower chemical durability at the bonded seams. It is well suited for general laboratory use, particularly when working with aqueous, acidic, or mild organic solutions.

The PTFE lid provides good resistance to most acids and bases and helps minimize evaporation, making the cuvette suitable for sensitive measurements in both research and routine analytical applications.

Chemical Compatibility

Fused quartz cuvettes are resistant to most corrosive chemicals and many organic solvents. However, the fused seams are more vulnerable than molded cuvettes. For best performance and long service life:

  • ✔ Safe for most acids (except HF), bases, water-based solutions, alcohols (e.g., ethanol, isopropanol) and buffer solutions.
  • ⚠ Not recommended for prolonged or high-concentration exposure to aggressive organic solvents such as toluene, acetone, MEK, carbon tetrachloride, chloroform, or similar chemicals.
  • ❌ Do not use with hydrofluoric acid (HF) — it reacts with quartz.
  • Rinse and clean immediately after exposure to solvents to prevent staining or seam degradation.

Key Features

  • 20 mm optical path length: increases signal strength and sensitivity for low-concentration measurements.
  • 4 optical windows: ideal for right-angle fluorescence and absorbance applications.
  • Fused fabrication: excellent UV/VIS performance at lower cost, suitable for routine laboratory use.
  • PTFE lid: provides chemical resistance and minimizes sample evaporation.
  • 7 mL volume: efficient balance between sensitivity and sample consumption.

Typical Applications

  • Fluorescence spectroscopy (right-angle & front-face)
  • High-sensitivity absorbance measurements
  • Environmental water and solution analysis
  • Routine analytical and teaching laboratories

Notes on Use

  • Fused cuvettes are economical but have a shorter service life under harsh organic solvents compared to molded cuvettes.
  • Clean immediately after use to avoid staining or seam damage.
  • For frequent use with strong solvents, consider molded cuvettes for longer lifespan and better solvent resistance.
