About Fused Fabrication
Fused quartz cuvettes are made by sintering quartz powder at high temperatures. This manufacturing method offers:
- High temperature resistance up to 600 °C (1112 °F).
- Excellent UV transparency and optical stability.
- Accurate path length control (±0.06 – 0.08 mm).
However, there are important handling considerations:
- Fused seams may stain or discolor after repeated use.
- Not suitable for long-term sample storage.
- Do not use with: hydrofluoric acid (HF), toluene, acetone, or other aggressive organic solvents — these will significantly shorten the cuvette’s lifespan.
Note: For experiments involving aggressive solvents or extended storage, molded quartz cuvettes offer better durability and chemical resistance.
