About Fused Fabrication
Fused quartz cuvettes are manufactured by sintering quartz powder at high temperature, providing:
- Excellent thermal resistance up to 600 °C (1112 °F).
- High UV transparency and optical stability.
- Precise optical path length tolerance of ±0.06 – 0.08 mm.
However, fused fabrication has some usage considerations:
- Joints may stain or discolor over time with sample exposure.
- Not recommended for long-term sample storage.
- Not suitable for hydrofluoric acid (HF) and aggressive organic solvents such as toluene and acetone — using these can significantly shorten cuvette lifetime.
Note: For experiments involving aggressive solvents or extended storage, molded quartz cuvettes offer greater durability and chemical resistance.
